‘Macondo’ is the third album of Turkish composer, producer and guitarist Alper Tuzcu. Influenced by Latin American cultures, this album features song lyrics inspired from Gabriel García Marquez and Pablo Neruda. Moreover, it features songs with rhythms inspired from Latin America including chacarera, cumbia, bossa nova and others. The album is named after the fictional town in García Marquez’ bestseller “One Hundred Years of Solitude”. This album was released as a series of three EPs: Migrante, Imagina and Raíz. With the final piece in the series, “Raíz” being released, the album has come full circle and now you can hear it in it’s entirety.
The album has been recorded mostly remotely with an international group of musicians, including Marcelo Woloski, percussionist of Snarky Puppy and Banda Magda. All musicians in this project have studied at Berklee College of Music and are currently living all over the world, which creates a truly global atmosphere for the entirety of this album.
